Women's Brunch Event

The Women’s Brunch event at BRAVE Church is designed as a welcoming gathering for women to connect, build community, and grow in their faith together. The event invites both regular attendees and new guests to share a meal, engage in meaningful conversation, and participate in a time of encouragement and fellowship.

For this project, I developed the visual direction for the event and designed a small collection of promotional and experiential assets that helped establish the tone of the gathering. Deliverables included an announcement slide, invitation card, attendee name lanyards, and a custom-designed mug for the event. With a theme centered around “brunch,” the goal was to create visuals that felt fresh, feminine, and inviting while reflecting the warm and welcoming culture of the church.

The Process

The design process began with the announcement slide, which served as the primary visual anchor for the event branding. Once the direction was established through this piece, I expanded the visual system to the remaining deliverables, including invitation cards, the event mug, and attendee name lanyards. Working within the short timeline, I focused on creating a cohesive visual language that could translate easily across different formats and products. Each asset was designed to maintain consistent typography, color usage, and graphic elements so that the event branding felt unified regardless of the format. Because I had worked closely with church leadership on previous projects, I was able to rely on my understanding of their visual preferences when making creative decisions. This helped streamline the approval process and allowed the concept to move quickly from ideation to production.

The Challenge

One of the main challenges of this project was the extremely fast timeline. I was given just one day to develop a creative concept and produce mockups for all event materials so they could be presented for approval. Once the concept was approved, I then had one additional day to finalize proofs and send all assets to vendors for production. While I had full creative freedom for the visual direction, the design still needed to resonate with the leadership team’s style preferences and align with the welcoming atmosphere of the event. This required quick decision-making and a strong understanding of the church’s culture in order to develop a concept that would receive approval without multiple rounds of revision.

2

Research & Discovery

To begin the project, I explored visual inspiration related to spring gatherings, brunch aesthetics, and women’s events. I used Pinterest as a starting point to gather references that captured a light, feminine, and inviting atmosphere. Floral elements, soft color palettes, and casual yet elegant typography helped establish the visual tone for the event. Because the goal of the brunch was to create a warm and welcoming environment for both church members and first-time guests, the visual direction leaned into themes of hospitality, community, and celebration. The design needed to feel approachable and joyful while still maintaining clarity across both digital and printed materials.

3

Final Deliverables

The final deliverables included a small but cohesive set of promotional and event materials: • Announcement slide used during church services to promote the event • 2.5 × 2.5 in invitation cards designed for attendees to invite friends and encourage community outreach • Attendee name lanyards used during the event to help foster connection and conversation among participants • Custom-designed mug created as a branded product and memorable takeaway for attendees Together, these pieces created a consistent visual identity for the event that extended from promotion to the in-person experience.

4

Outcome & Results

The Women’s Brunch event is scheduled for May 9th and is expected to draw a large turnout based on previous years. Last year’s event welcomed over 1,000 women from the church community and surrounding area. By establishing a cohesive visual theme across promotional and experiential materials, the campaign helps create excitement around the event while reinforcing a welcoming atmosphere for both returning attendees and new guests.

Reflection

This project reinforced the importance of quick ideation and confident decision-making when working within tight timelines. With only one day to develop the initial concept, I had to trust my instincts, gather inspiration quickly, and commit to a strong visual direction without overthinking the process. It also strengthened my ability to design efficiently while maintaining cohesion across multiple deliverables. Translating a single creative concept into different formats—digital slides, printed invitations, wearable items, and products—required careful attention to consistency and hierarchy. Finally, the project highlighted the value of understanding the visual preferences and communication style of leadership teams. Because I had experience working with this team on previous projects, I was able to anticipate what would resonate with them, allowing the concept to move smoothly from approval to production within a very short timeframe.
