Creative Direction and Design for a Multi-campus Easter Event.
BRAVE Church’s Easter series is one of the most significant events of the year, welcoming both regular attendees and many first-time guests across multiple campuses. This project involved developing the visual theme and creative direction for the Easter experience, translating the message of the series into a cohesive visual identity that could engage audiences both in-person and online.
I led the design process from initial concept brainstorming through final production, developing the visual language used across a wide range of touchpoints. The project included large-scale stage graphics for auditorium screens, announcement slides, lobby signage, directional wayfinding for the church exterior and parking areas, invitation cards, and digital promotional materials. I also created website series covers and social media graphics to extend the campaign online and encourage community outreach.
Through thoughtful design choices, the goal was to create a visually engaging and welcoming experience that reflected the heart of the church while helping guests easily navigate the environment and understand the event. The final campaign unified physical spaces and digital platforms into a consistent and inviting visual system that supported communication, celebration, and community engagement during the Easter season.

The Process
Once a few strong directions emerged, I presented the concepts to church leadership for feedback and alignment. This stage involved discussing how the visuals would translate across multiple environments—from large auditorium stage screens to printed signage and digital promotions. After refining the concept based on feedback, a final theme was selected and approved for production. With the creative direction established, I moved into designing the full suite of deliverables needed for the campaign. This included large-scale stage graphics, auditorium announcement slides, lobby signage, directional wayfinding, invitation cards, website series covers, and social media graphics. Each asset was designed to work both independently and as part of a cohesive visual system, ensuring consistency across physical spaces and digital platforms while preparing all files for efficient production and installation ahead of the Easter services.

The Challenge
The primary challenge of the BRAVE Church Easter campaign was developing a visual theme that could translate seamlessly across a wide range of environments and platforms while also being executed within a very tight production timeline. Easter is one of the church’s most attended events of the year, requiring clear communication, strong visual impact, and a welcoming atmosphere for both regular attendees and many first-time guests. In addition to creating a compelling visual identity for the series, the design system had to function effectively across large-scale stage screens, digital platforms, and numerous printed materials including lobby signage, invitation cards, and exterior wayfinding. Each element needed to maintain visual consistency while also serving a clear functional purpose within the physical space. A key logistical challenge was ensuring that all signage and printed materials were designed, approved, and sent to production quickly enough to meet event deadlines. This required thoughtful prioritization of deliverables, efficient collaboration with team members, and careful preparation of print-ready files to ensure signage could be produced and installed in time for the event across multiple locations.

Research & Discovery
I began the project by reviewing visual themes from previous church series and Easter campaigns, both within BRAVE Church and from other churches, to identify opportunities for a fresh and engaging approach. Many church Easter visuals tend to rely heavily on traditional imagery or overly complex graphics, which can sometimes feel visually dated or difficult to translate across different environments. My goal was to create a theme that felt modern, celebratory, and welcoming while still honoring the significance of the Easter message. I also considered the unique audience for this event. Easter services often include a large number of first-time guests in addition to regular attendees, so the visuals needed to communicate warmth, clarity, and approachability. This meant prioritizing bold, readable typography, strong visual hierarchy, and imagery that would translate effectively on large stage screens, signage, and digital platforms. During this phase, I explored several moodboards, color palettes, and compositional styles to determine what would work best across the wide range of deliverables required for the campaign. The final visual direction leaned toward bright, celebratory tones and clean compositions that would feel both joyful and inviting while maintaining consistency across physical spaces and digital touchpoints.

Final Deliverables
The final deliverables included a comprehensive set of assets designed to create a cohesive Easter experience across both physical environments and digital platforms: • A complete Easter series theme concept, including the visual direction, typography, color palette, and graphic elements used • Large-scale 8×10 ft stage banner designed for auditorium screens to establish the visual tone of the series during services • 2.5×6 ft standing lobby banners placed throughout the church to reinforce the theme and guide attendees through key areas • 2.5×2.5 in invitation cards created for congregation members to share with friends and family as a simple outreach tool • 24×36 in A-frame parking signs designed to help guests navigate the campus and clearly communicate service times and event information • A 4×8 ft roadside banner placed outside the church to attract attention and promote the Easter services to the surrounding community • Social media graphics designed to advertise the event online and encourage community sharing across two locations • Auditorium announcement slides used during services to communicate event details and reinforce the visual identity of the series What I’m especially proud of is how the design system translated across such a wide range of formats—from small invitation cards to large-scale signage—while maintaining a consistent visual language. The final campaign helped create a welcoming and engaging environment for attendees while clearly communicating event details and encouraging community participation during one of the church’s most significant events of the year.

Outcome & Results
The Easter campaign was successfully launched across both BRAVE Church campuses with all signage, graphics, and promotional materials produced and installed in time for the event. Despite the tight production timeline, the final visuals were implemented seamlessly across stage environments, printed signage, and digital platforms, creating a unified and welcoming experience for attendees. The cohesive design system allowed the theme to translate effectively across a wide range of formats—from large-scale stage banners and outdoor signage to social media graphics and invitation cards—ensuring that the Easter message felt consistent and recognizable throughout every touchpoint of the event. The final campaign helped support clear communication for both regular attendees and first-time guests by making navigation, event details, and promotional messaging easy to understand. Most importantly, the consistent visual language across both campuses reinforced a shared sense of celebration and community during one of the church’s most significant events of the year.

Reflection
This project reinforced the importance of balancing brand consistency with audience awareness. My primary creative goal was to design a theme that aligned with the established aesthetic and culture of BRAVE Church while still feeling welcoming and engaging for the many first-time guests who typically attend Easter services. Creating visuals that felt both familiar to the church community and inviting to newcomers required thoughtful design decisions around color, typography, and overall tone. The concept presentation process also helped strengthen my ability to communicate design direction with leadership. I presented a range of concepts—including more experimental ideas, designs closely aligned with the church’s existing visual style, and concepts inspired by broader trends within church communications. This approach allowed leadership to clearly identify the direction that resonated most, after which I refined the selected concept and coordinated with the communications manager to finalize and produce the necessary materials. Working within a tight production timeline also required strong organization and prioritization. Once the signage requirements were finalized, I designed and prepared all necessary files within two days to ensure they could be reviewed, approved, and sent to vendors for production in time for installation before the event. This project gave me a deeper understanding of BRAVE Church’s visual preferences and leadership expectations, which will help streamline future design projects and improve efficiency in both concept development and production workflows. It also expanded my experience designing for both digital and physical environments, reinforcing the importance of building visual systems that translate effectively across multiple formats and spaces. Moving forward, I plan to continue applying these lessons by developing scalable design systems, anticipating production timelines earlier in the process, and approaching projects with an experience-driven mindset that considers how design functions across entire environments—not just individual graphics.
